The text of document 33/616/FDIS, future edition 1 of IEC 60358-4, prepared by IEC/TC 33 "Power
capacitors and their applications" was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and approved by
CENELEC as EN IEC 60358-4:2018.
The following dates are fixed:
• latest date by which the document has to be implemented at national (dop) 2019-05-23
level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement
• latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the (dow) 2021-11-23
document have to be withdrawn
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CENELEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes HD 597 S1:1992 (partially).
This European Standard is to be used in conjunction with the latest edition of EN 60358-1 and its
amendments. It was established on the basis of the first edition (2012) of that standard.
This Part 4 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses in EN 60358-1.
When a particular subclause of Part 1 is not mentioned in this Part 4, that subclause applies as far as
is reasonable. Where this Part 4 states “addition” or “replacement”, the relevant text in Part 1 is to be
adapted accordingly.
For additional clauses, subclauses, figures, tables or annexes, the following numbering system is
used:
— subclauses, tables and figures which are additional to those in Part 1 are numbered starting
from 400;
— additional tables and annexes are lettered AA, BB etc.;
— as the notes are integrated into the clauses, their numbering starts from 1 as usual.

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
