Thermal power plants use a large quantity of cooling water. This cooling water mainly passes through the condenser of the steam turbine to cool the spent steam which has worked into condensed water for recycling.
This type of cooling water is called “circulating water” and comes from rivers, lakes or deep wells.
Water circulating in power plants is divided into “open cycle” and “closed cycle”. The closed cycle is often used in areas where water is scarce.
An open cycle is used only once and is discharged after heat exchange in the cooler. The closed cycle involves passing the used cooling water through the cooling tower and then using it repeatedly.
Cooling towers come in many forms. The principle is: use a water pump to pump the hot water exchanged tothe top of the cooling tower, then let the hot water fall like rain and recycle the hot water. cold water in the tank below for recycling.
