Shanxi Niangziguan Power Generation Co., Ltd. is a national second-tier power generation enterprise established after the institutional separation of the original Niangziguan Power Station with power generation as the main project. Its construction was planned for 1965 and it is equipped with four domestic thermal power plants with a single capacity of 100 MW. The first unit was put into operation on October 20, 1971. At that time, the first 100 MW unit in Shanxi Province officially began generating electricity. On September 13, 1982, all four units were commissioned. It has 220 kV and 110 kV booster stations and five transmission lines each, connecting Shanxi and Hebei provinces and carrying electricity to Shanxi, Hebei and the capital Beijing.
Shanxi Niangziguan Power Generation Co., Ltd. is located at the junction of Shanxi and Hebei provinces, Pingding County, Shanxi Province. It is 39 kilometers from Yangquan City in the west and 73 kilometers from Shijiazhuang City in the east. Because it is located in the Taihang Mountains and surrounded by mountains, the terrain is extremely dangerous. Since ancient times, it has been the pass leading to Yan and Zhao, and it is an important place for military strategists to fight for. It is known as the ninth pass in the world and the gateway to eastern Shanxi.
Shanxi Niangziguan Power Generation Co., Ltd. owes its name to its creation under the pass. Niangziguan is located in the hinterland of the Qinshui coalfield in the west and the Jizhong plain in the east. The Taohe and Wenhe Rivers flow along the triangle to the north and south of the company, joining in the Mianh Rivere to the east, cross the pass and flow into Hebei province to the east. The Shijiazhuang-Taiwan Railway and the Yangjing Expressway connect Shanxi and Hebei provinces. The Niangziguan region is rich in water resources. There are 14 springs with an average annual flow of 12.7 cubic meters/second.
