Dazu District is part of Chongqing City, located between 105°29′~106°02′ longitude east and 29°24. ′~29 north latitude Between 52′ and 52′, it is located west of Chongqing City. It was built in the first year of Qianyuan of the Tang Dynasty (758 AD) and named after the meaning of "Dafeng Dazu". It borders Tongnan District to the north, Tongliang District to the northeast, and Yongchuan District to the southeast, bounded by Rongchang District to the southwest and Anyue County, Sichuan to the northwest; New Development Zone, Chongqing Metropolitan Area and component of Chongqing One-Hour Economic Circle.
At the end of 2015, Dazu District covered an area of 1,436 square kilometers and governed 6 streets and 21 towns. The permanent population in 2015 was 760,000 and the total population was 1.04 million. In 2014, regional GDP was32,984.33 million yuan, an increase of 11.4% from 2013.
Dazu District has the only world cultural heritage in Chongqing: Dazu Rock Carvings, Scenic Area Longshui Lake, Yulong Mountain National Forest Park and other scenic spots.
