Loudi City has jurisdiction over one district, two cities and two counties, and the government is located in Louxing District. Municipal districts, Louxing District, Lengshuijiang Town, Lianyuan Town, Shuangfeng County and Xinhua County.
In December 1982, Lianyuan region was renamed Loudi region.
On February 8, 1983, the State Council approved the cancellation of the town of Loudi in the Loudi region and changed it to the Loudi district (county level) of the town of Xiangtan and Lianyuan counties were placed under the jurisdiction of. Xiangtan City; Lengshuijiang was canceled. The city was renamed Lengshuijiang District (county level) of Shaoyang City, and Shaodong, Xinshao, and Xinhua counties returned to the jurisdiction of Shaoyang City. But this was not implemented and the Loudi area was removed from its name.
On July 13, 1983, the Council of State approved the rEstablishment of the Loudi region and its administrative offices, Loudi Town, Lengshuijiang Town, Shuangfeng County, Lianyuan County and Xinhua County were under the jurisdiction of the Loudi. Shaodong and Xinshao counties are under the jurisdiction of Shaoyang City.
In June 1987, the State Council approved the withdrawal of Lianyuan from the county and its establishment as a city, and the administrative area under its jurisdiction remained unchanged.
On November 1, 1987, Lianyuan City was officially established.
In January 1999, with the approval of the Council of State, Loudi was removed from the territory and established as a city. The original county-level town of Loudi was renamed Louxing District. The administrative divisions of Louxing District, Lianyuan Town, Lengshuijiang Town, Shuangfeng County and Xinhua County under its jurisdiction remain unchanged.
