After filing, remove the burrs on the outer ring mouth to prevent the sharp edges of the ring mouth from tiring the cylinder wall.
2. Side gap inspection method: The side gap of the diesel generator piston ring refers to the space between the ring and the plane side of the ring groove. When measuring, place the piston rings in their respective grooves. They must be able to rotate flexibly without any stagnation. Use a feeler gauge to measure the gap on one side. When detecting the side clearance of the scale ring, it should be installed in the cylinder with the piston and measured, and its value should conform to the regulations. If the side gap is too large, it will affect the sealing effect of the air ring, and it needs to be refitted if the side gap is too small or the ring is wider than the groove of the ring, except for the trapezoidal ring, it must be readjusted and ground. Rings of other shapes can be placed over the joint on No. 0 gauze on a platform or flat glass. When grinding, keep the ring close to the emery cloth and move it evenly. You can also use flat glass coated with abrasive sand and dripping oil for grinding.

The corresponding scale of the scale is the elasticity value of the ring. Generally, this measurement is rarely performed. The repairman only needs to feel the elasticity with his hands, that is, whether the outer circle feels "hard" when pinched with his hands.
5. How to Check for Light Leaks: Light leaks refer to the degree to which light can penetrate between the ring and the cylinder wall when the piston ring is installed in the cylinder. When inspecting, place the segment of piston horizontally in the cylinder, cover the inner circle of the segment with a circular plate, place a light source under the cylinder, then check the light leakage space. It is necessary that there is light leakage space. within 30° at both ends of the piston ring opening space. If there is a light leak, there should be no more than two light leaks from the same piston ring, the total arc should not exceed 45°, and the light leak space should be less than 0.03mm. When the light leakage gap is less than 0.015mm, the arc can be relaxed appropriately, but it should not exceed 120°.
