Ecological agriculture is different from traditional agriculture in that its main characteristics are:
(1) Holistic. Ecological farming is a kind of holistic farming. Its structure is very complex, with many levels, many goals and many connections, forming a complex three-dimensional network. It regulates according to the requirements of ecological laws and integrates agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, secondary production, fishing, industry, commerce, transportation and other industries into a comprehensive management system for the overall development.
(2) Hierarchy. Ecological agriculture has multi-level subsystems, and each subsystem has a different function: some are engaged in grain production, others in vegetable, fruit and tree production, and some subsystems are complete. All these elements have opened multiple avenues forr human food production, which can be transformed into an integrated management system through horizontal connections.
(3) Regionality. Ecological agriculture has obvious regional characteristics. The environment determines and affects organisms, and organisms depend on and transform the environment. It is therefore necessary to establish a perspective of adapting measures to local conditions and strictly comply with the requirements of regional differentiation laws in order to give full play to regional advantages and achieve results.
(4) Regulations. There are four main ways to regulate ecological agriculture: ① Make full use of natural conditions; ② Transform unfavorable factors into favorable factors; ③ Combine natural regulation and artificial regulation to effectively protect and improve the natural environment and promote agricultural development; .
(5) Constructive. Ecological agriculture is a kind of constructive agriculture that pays attention to unified planning and the use of new modern technologies and new achievements, and strives to accomplish the dual tasks of developing production and improving the environment, so as to facilitate construction, make the economy prosper, and beautify the environment. Thus, ecological agriculture can unify the three major benefits of economy, ecology and society and continue to develop along the path of a virtuous circle.
