BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 433, Marking of Conveyor Belts, was drawn up by
Technical Committee ISO/TC 41, Pulleys and Belts (including Vee-Belts) , the Secretariat
of which is held by the Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1958 and led, in 1962, to
the adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In January 1963, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 565) was circulated to all the
IS0 Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an
editorial nature, by the following Member Bodies :

Council, which decided, in March 1965, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.

MARKING OF CONVEYOR BELTS
1. SCOPE
The purpose of this IS0 Recommendation is to specify the characteristics of marking of conveyor
belts.
It states the indications to be marked, and also the dimensions and position of the marks.
2. INDICATIONS TO BE MARKED
The indications to be marked are shown below, in the order in which they appear in the marking:
(1) The standard value of the breaking strength at full thickness, expressed in kilogrammes-
force per centimetre (according to IS0 Recommendation R 283 ").
(2) A letter identifying the basic property, in accordance with the following code:
