BRIEF HISTORY
The 1SO Recommendation R 479, Paper - Untrimmed Sizes - Designation - Tolerances,
was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 6, Paper, the Secretariat of which is held by
the Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1960 and led, in 1963, to the
adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In January 1964, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 651) was circulated to all the IS0
Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved by the following Member Bodies:

Indonesia Spain
Bulgaria
Canada Israel Sweden
Colombia Japan Switzerland
Czechoslovakia Korea, Rep. of U.A.R.
Denmark Netherlands United Kingdom
France New Zealand U.S.S.R.

One Member Body opposed the approval of the Draft: U.S.A.
The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0 Council
which decided, in April 1966, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.
