BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 664, Oleaginous seeds - Reduction of contract samples to
samples for analysis, was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 34, Agricultural food products,
the Secretariat of which is held by the Magyar Szabvhyügyi Hivatal (MSZH).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1961 and led, in 1963, to the
adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In March 1966, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 906) was circulated to all the IS0
Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial nature,
by the following Member Bodies :

1. SCOPE
This IS0 Recommendation describes the procedures for obtaining, from a contract sample of olea-
ginous seeds, a sample for analysis.
NOTES
1. Procedures for obtaining representative contract samples from a consignment of oilseeds are described in
IS0 Recommendation R 542, Oilseeds - Sampling.
2. Some contracts for the trading of oilseeds call for analysis of the sample as drawn, i.e. including any im-
purities that may be present.
