IS0 Recommendation R 1048 April 1969
I
IDENTIFICATION OF EXPOSED COLOUR ROLL FILM
I
INTRODUCTION
The object of this IS0 Recommendation is to provide simple internationally recognizable markings for distinguishing
exposed colour roll film from black-and-white film so as to ensure that exposed colour roll film, when handed to
photofinishers for processing, is not inadvertently processed as black-and-white film.
The markings further distinguish colour reversal roll film from colour negative roll film. This assists the photographic
dealer and photofinisher in sorting colour roll films and indicates whether, after processing, the roil film will be
in the form of a positive transparency ready for viewing, or whether the dealer or photofinisher should ask for an
order for colour prints to be made from the colour negatives.
It should be recognized that colour roil film after being marked as specified requires additional identification as to
type and origin, because in general, each brand of colour fdm requires different processing.
1. SCOPE
I
This IS0 Recommendation applies to all types and sizes of colour roll fdm which are spooled with a continuous
backing paper or with paper leaders at the fdm ends and which are intended for use in still picture cameras. For
further differentiation from colour films, a proposal relating to black-and-white roll film is included.
