BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 1008, Photogmphic black-and-white papers forgeneml use - Preferred sizes
of sheet material, was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 42, Photography, the Secretariat of which is
held by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Work on this question led to the adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In December 1966, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 1077) was circulated to ali the IS0 Member
Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial nature, by the following
Member Bodies :
Argentina Czechoslovakia South Africa, Rep. of
Belgium France Sweden
Brazil Germany Thailand
Bulgaria Greece U.A.R.
Canada Italy United Kingdom
Chile
Japan U.S.A.
No Member Body opposed the approval of the Draft.
The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0 Council, which decided,
in March 1969, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.
