Who limits wind power?
In fact, it is usually due to the lack of effective local electricity load that limits power generation or creates a wasteful situation of "wind curtailment".
Generally, a large number of wind turbines or wind power plants are located in remote areas where the economy is not developed enough. The local industry is underdeveloped and there is a lack of basic load. As a result, the electricity generated by the wind turbines can only be boosted and transmitted to the grid to the economically developed areas. Regions or load centers, but there are two important problems with this: One is that economically developed areas also have their own local power stations. When the locally generated power is sufficient, there is no need for additional power sent from long distances, resulting in wind curtailment.
The second problem is that users require stable power supply. However, wind power generation is affected by wind speed, and power generation is not stable. There may even be power outages at any time when there is no wind. How can users bear this? For example, if we are using computers to calculate, and there is a sudden power outage, who will bear the losses? The steelmaking plant was making steel, and a sudden power outage damaged the steelmaking equipment, which would have serious consequences. Therefore, the power supply bureau did not dare to rely entirely on wind power, and it could not afford the consequences and responsibilities. Therefore, when the scale of wind power generation can only play a "supporting role", and when the proportion of wind power generation in the power grid is too large, threatening the security of power supply, some wind turbines have to be restricted to generate electricity, resulting in waste of wind power. I am really helpless. It is not yet said whether the existing transmission capacity of the power grid can transmit so much new power.
Theoretically, the fundamental solution is to develop local electricity basic load and absorb wind power locally.
The second is to increase the total capacity of the power grid so that the proportion of wind power generation is within a reasonable proportion to avoid excessive fluctuations in the impact of wind power on the power grid.
So, it’s not that anyone wants to limit the generation of clean wind power, but it’s caused by the lack of load to use electricity.
