Chengqian Town has a long history. As far back as 6,000 years ago, ancestors lived here and there are still two historical and cultural sites: "Lanling City" from the Spring and Autumn Period and "Chengziwo" from the Warring States Period, as well as a Nishan Anti-Japanese Martyrs Monument from the Anti-Japanese War Period. . According to the records of the town, Chengqian Village, the resident of Chengqian Town, got its name because it was in front of Lanling City in the 18th year of Yongping in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 75) (it is also said that it was before the establishment of Hexiang City in the Northern Song Dynasty).
Tengxian County was established in the sixth year of Emperor Kaihuang’s reign in the Sui Dynasty (586), and the front of the city belonged to Tengxian County. After the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, the front of the city was Teng County Chengqianshe, with a territory of 20 miles wide and 30 miles. During the Zhengtong period of Emperor Yingzong of the Ming Dynasty (1436-1449), Chengqianshe was renamed Chengqianli. In the 11th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1672), the city's front lane was changed into the city's front bao. In the 27th year of Kangxi (1688), the Chengqian Society was restored and established. In the 18th year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1813), Tang Sheng, the magistrate of Tengxian County, changed the name of the Chengqian Society to the Seventh Society of Li with "benevolence, righteousness, etiquette, wisdom, filial piety, brotherhood, loyalty, and trustworthiness" as the divisional names. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the county was divided into districts, and Liqi Society was changed to Liqi District, with jurisdiction over 102 villages.
