Causes of wall mold
Wall mold is mainly caused by moisture in the wall, and there are generally three reasons why the wall becomes damp.
1. Water supply and drainage pipes or heating pipes are leaking, causing the walls to become damp. Over time, the walls will become moldy.
2. Outdoor rainwater seeps into the room, causing the walls to become damp. Cracks appear at the junction between the baffle under the balcony window (mainly made of prefabricated floor tiles, so cracks are likely to occur at the junction with the wall) and the wall, or the waterproof performance of the window are not good, which may cause external damage. rainwater seeps into the room.
3. The insulation of the walls is not well done, which results in a large temperature difference between the inside and the outside. In this way, the water ppresent in the indoor air condenses on the wall when it is cold, causing condensation. the wall is damp.
If there is mold on the wall, the cleaning effect is better with hypochlorite solution (household bleach) than with detergent. Dilute one part hypochlorite with three parts water to make a cleaning solution. Wear gloves and goggles to protect your skin and eyes during use. Use a thick steel wool cloth (scouring pad) dampened with cleaning solution to gently scrub the moldy part until it is clean. Let the cleaning solution stay on the wall for 15 minutes. then rinse thoroughly with clean water. If the mold on the wall is significant, repeat the steps above once.
1. Mold caused by seasonal reasons: it is better not to repair it immediately
Because the moisture in the wall evaporates graduallyively, which is a normal physical change of decorative materials. If a new paint surface is applied before the moisture has completely evaporated, the moisture will continue to evaporate and escape from other areas, and the wall may become moldy again.
2. Mold on the wall caused by poor wall insulation: First check whether the wall has been insulated.
Hit the wall with an inspection hammer If there is a sound. a cavity, this means that the wall has a layer of insulation. If the sound is muffled, it means that the wall does not have an insulation layer. If there is an insulating layer, you should check for cracks in the exterior wall of the building. If there are no cracks, it means the insulation material is not good and needs to be replaced.
3. If the wall is already damp: you can choose a colored interior wall paint with better waterproof properties.
The specific construction methode is: Let the wet wall dry for a while. two months During the process, a layer of waterproof grout mixed with cement is painted on the wall to prevent moisture. Use drywall putty to fill any dips and holes on the wall, then scrape the putty everywhere. After drying, smooth the wall with sandpaper. Repeat twice and clean. Apply the primer twice with a paint roller to a clean, dry wall.
4. If you choose wallpaper for the wall: be sure to store it, as wallpaper is most likely to develop mold.
The correct way to remove mold from wallpaper: wipe with a cloth soaked in disinfectant alcohol. Otherwise, if it's too severe, the mold can be removed with just two or three wipes. Use bleach, but it can easily irritate the skin, so be sure to wear rubber gloves and rinsez with water.
