The disadvantages of hydroelectric power generation are
1. Due to land restrictions, it is impossible to build too much capacity. The capacity of a single unit is around 300 MW.
2. The factory construction period is long and the construction cost is high.
3. Because it is located in a natural river or lake area, it is susceptible to feng shui disasters and affects other water conservation projects. Power generation is easily affected by weather conditions such as drought and rain.
4. It is not easy to increase capacity once the factory is built.
5. Ecological damage: increased water erosion downstream of the dam, changes to rivers and impacts on animals and plants.
