Xi'an Jiaotong University, called "Xi'an Jiaotong University ", is a national key research-oriented university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.
It ranks among the world-class A-class universities, the major national construction universities of the “Seventh Five-Year Plan” and “Eighth Five-Year Plan”, the first batch of national “211 Project” and “985 Project” of major construction universities and was selected in the “Pearl “Peak Plan”, “Strong Foundation Plan”, “2011 Plan”, “111 Plan” and Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan.

Since 2000, Xi'an Jiaotong University has won 54 national science and technology awards as the first completed unit. From 2012 to 2016, the school ranked fifth among universities nationwide and was the first unit to win three national awards.
