There are two cooling methods for diesel generator sets: air cooling and water cooling.
1. Wind Cooling Method:
The wind cooling method uses air as a cooling medium to transfer heat from the heated parts of the diesel engine. This cooling method consists of cooling. fan and guide cover, etc.
In order to increase heat dissipation neps, many corrugated fins are usually cast on the outer walls of the cylinder block, cylinder head and each radiator. During operation, the fan rotates to circulate air along the air guide cover to the surface of the cylinder block and cylinder head. As cold air passes through the heat sink, it carries away heat from the cylinder block and cylinder head.
The air-cooled cooling system has a strSimple structure and low weight, but the cooling effect is poor. It is mainly used in small diesel engines and is suitable for areas lacking water.
2. Water Cooling Method:
The water cooling method uses water as a cooling medium to transfer heat from the heated parts of the diesel engine. The characteristic of this cooling method is that it is easy to adjust the cooling intensity when the temperature or workload changes.
There are two types of water cooling methods: open type and closed type. In an open cooling system, the circulating water is directly connected to the atmosphere and the steam pressure in the cooling system is always maintained at atmospheric pressure. In a closed system, water circulates in the closed system and the vapor pressure of the cooling system is higherre at atmospheric pressure. As the temperature difference between the cooling water temperature and the outside air temperature increases, the heat dissipation capacity of the assembly increases. the cooling system is improved.
Why install an air cooler on the generator?
This sentence applies to the water-hydrogen-hydrogen cooling method of the generator, that is, the water passes through the hollow conductor inside the winding of the stator and the water carries away the heat generated during the operation of the generator to achieve the cooling effect. There are ventilation channels inside the stator core and rotor windings, which are cooled by hydrogen.
If the temperature of the internal cooling water of the generator stator winding is higher than the temperature of the hydrogen outside the winding, condensation will formmera on the outer surface of the stator winding, i.e. the insulation surface. of the stator winding will become very wet, which will damage the insulation of the stator winding. As a result, the stator winding will be partially discharged and will no longer be able to function.
Air coolers are installed for cooling purposes.
Principle
Due to the loss of copper and iron when the generator works, the temperature of the iron core and coil will gradually increase. In order to reduce the aging rate of the coil insulation and prolong its service life, the temperature of the coil should not exceed a certain value, for example 100°C. Therefore, measures should be taken to discharge the heat generated by the coil and the iron core in time to maintain the temperature of the coil insulation not exceeding the specified value. Cooling methodsThe most commonly used ones include air cooling, hydrogen cooling and water cooling. Although the effect of air cooling is poor, the air cooling equipment is simple and reliable, so it is widely used in medium and small generator sets.
The function of the chiller
The air cooler uses cooling water to cool the higher temperature air coming out of the generator, then sends it into the generator . In fact, when the generator operates, the heat generated is removed by the cooling water, and the air only acts as a fluid.
Due to the poor air cooling effect, large generators often use hydrogen cooling and water cooling with good cooling effect.cold.
