Recently, the legendary EmDrive electromagnetic motor has resurfaced. It is said that this theoretical propulsion system could allow astronauts to reach Mars in just ten weeks. But many people despise this theory, believing that its principles completely violate the laws of physics.
According to several media outlets, a peer-reviewed article on EmDrive will soon be published in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics' AIAA Journal of Propulsion and Power. The scientific community seems to have taken another step towards solving the mystery of the electromagnetic engine.
Theoretically, EmDrive works by reflecting microwaves into a sealed cavity, thereby generating radiation pressure and pushing the spacecraft forward. The engine obtains power from solar energy, meaning the EmDrive spacecraft does not need to carry fuel.
If this can be achieved, it will be a great breakthrough. For example, the size of our satellites can be reduced by half because there is no need for fuel. Humans can also penetrate deeper into the universe and propel themselves along the way.
Is this the future of space flight?
This idea is generally considered unrealistic, because the "no fuel" feature means that this product directly violates the law of conservation of momentum. This means that it is not necessary to have an equal amount of reverse thrust to produce forward thrust. Boiling a chestnut The reason the rocket flies upward is because the exhaust gases are vented downward from the other end.
Currently, four independent laboratories, including NASA, have built this propulsion system.
On NASA's Spacelight forum, someone announcednced that this new paper was written by NASA's Eagleworks team and had been reviewed by academics.
"As far as I know, Eaglework's new paper was approved today for publication by a peer-reviewed journal," posted a Spacelight user, identified as Dr. José Rodal of NASA. However, this post has been deleted.
Earlier this year, also on this forum, Eagleworks engineer Paul March confirmed that his team was writing a paper on EmDrive.
“Eagleworks Labs has not stopped, we are still working hard in accordance with the goals set by NASA,” the March post said. "I don't want to talk about the past. Just listen to what Dr. Rodal said. Be patient. Our next EW article will be published. Peer review is as slow as an old cow."

Scream 64:@zmj: You don't Can't say that this violates energy conservation. Ah, because its energy comes from the stars.
