The Institute of Marine Science of Shanghai Ocean University (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute") is a "special academic zone" for the construction and development of marine disciplines where the school integrates resources existing themes and is committed to exploring the development potential of scientific research, expanding scientific research fields and improving scientific research levels, directly under the guidance of school construction.
The Research Institute of Shanghai Ocean University is committed to exploring the marine scientific research potential of the school and expanding the field of scientific research. After 5-6 years of construction, it has formed a marine discipline development model with marine biological resources, marine environment and. marine information as the core and built a maritime knowledge innovation system that improves capabilitiesindependent scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation teams. The institute is a non-administrative organization and constitutes a public scientific research platform, an innovation platform and an education platform that operates relatively independently. The institute consists of 11 international and open research institutes, including the Digital Ocean Research Institute, the China-US Ocean Remote Sensing and Information Research Center, the Marine Ecosystem and Environment Laboratory, the Institute of Marine Biological Systems and Neuroscience and the Marine Economic and Cultural Research Center. Key research centers, research institutes and laboratories were hired, and two dual-job academicians were hired and a group of top talents were flexibly invited to join. Building on this platform, the UShanghai Ocean University cooperated with NOAA in the United States to establish the China Sea remote sensing monitoring network, and jointly established the Digital Ocean Research Institute with the East China Sea Branch of the State Oceanic Administration. and the Institute of Marine Environment and Ecology with the Institute of Marine Science and Technology. It is a key laboratory that jointly established the Marine Remote Sensing Information Center with the Second Institute of Oceanology and committed to joining the EU “Dragon” program. At present, the Institute of Marine Science has undertaken more than 100 major scientific research projects under the national 973 and 863 plans, national scientific and technological support plans, international cooperation and levels provincial and ministerial.Marine research institutions, engineering and technologye marines, etc.
