Generally, there are two types of diesel generators (alternators), pivot type - the armature is on the rotor and the rotor is on it three. slip rings and brushes. Typically used on small generators.
Rotating pole type --- the magnetic pole is on the rotor and the rotor has two slip rings. Medium and large generators all use this form.
The 15KW alternator generally uses a magnetic pole rotating type. It has two slip rings and two sets of carbon brushes. Direct current is transmitted through the carbon brushes to the rotor pole winding to generate a fieldmagnetic. The rotor is rotated by the diesel engine. The magnetic field cuts the three-phase stator winding, induces an electric potential and generates an alternating current. To check the excitation voltage, simply measure the voltage across the slip ring.
The pivot type magnetic poles are on the stator, and the rotor is a three-phase armature winding. The DC excitation current is transmitted into the stator magnetic pole winding to generate a fixed stator magnetic field, and the three-phase rotor winding rotates. Cut off the magnetic field of the stator, induce three-phase alternating current into the rotor winding and output it through three slip rings. To measure this excitation voltage, simply use a multimeter to measure both ends of the stator winding.
