Tesla Model Y battery types vary between different versions:
1. The standard range model uses lithium iron phosphate batteries, and the supplier of this battery is CATL. Tesla officials confirmed this information and said that long-range and performance models will not be affected and will still use the original ternary lithium batteries.
2. Long-range and high-performance models use ternary lithium batteries. Ternary lithium batteries are widely used in most electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles. They have a higher energy density and a lighter weight. The positive electrode of the ternary lithium battery is made of ternary materials. Some ternary lithium batteries are made of nickel, cobalt and manganese, and others are made of nickel, cobalt and aluminum.
